Chair Justin Lester welcomed the new trustees, who will work alongside existing Trustees Simon Thomas, Nick Lewis, Margaret Delany and Justin as Chair.
“Good Bitches Baking is at a pivotal moment. Both of our Founders, Nic Murray and Marie Fitzpatrick have now stepped back, we’ve seen huge growth in volunteer numbers and our communities have really felt the value of kindness recently,” he said.
“Nic and Marie were absolute legends and built this incredible community. There are so many wonderful people who care deeply about this mahi and the Board has a significant role to play in guiding our whānau through the next period.”
Marie stepped down as a Trustee in March 2020 and Nic stepped down in March 2021. Trustee Julie Treanor also stepped down in January 2021 after 3 years on the board.
“As an organisation we are in a growth phase. People across the motu are hungry for opportunities to be kind. Our Board needs to be ready to support that growth and I know my Trustee colleagues Simon, Nick and Margaret look forward to the diverse contributions Sophie, Sam and Sarah will make.
“Covid-19 has really driven home the importance of connection and kindness. Our volunteers have the opportunity to express that and our recipients know their community is with them when times are tough,” he said.
