Welcome to our third instalment of the 'Why do you GBB?’ series, where we ask our volunteers a series of questions to understand what they love about being a GB. GBB wouldn’t be as successful as it is today without all of the volunteers that rally behind the scenes, putting in their time and mahi to share kindness around Aotearoa. Today, we’re speaking with GB Claire from Canterbury.
Thank you, Claire for your continuous dedication to GBB.
How long have you been volunteering with GBB?
How did you hear about Good Bitches Baking?
A friend was doing it in Masterton.
What made you decide to volunteer to be a Good Bitch?
Thought it was a nice way to give to others, I love baking but we eat way too much of it in our house! This way I still get to enjoy baking but give it to someone in need.
What is your favourite part about being a Good Bitch?
The friendly smiles and thanks you get when you deliver it.
What does kindness mean to you?
Everything! A major value in our household.
What do you do when you're not volunteering as a Good Bitch?
I’m currently a stay-at-home Mum but I’m a trained teacher.
Do you have any memorable baking stories you'd like to share?
When I was a kid I took some eggs to school for baking and they were from our farm. When we cracked it into the mixture it was a half fertilised chick inside, gross!! The other kids at school freaked out!
Do you have a favourite go-to recipe? If so, what is it and why is it your favourite?
Chelsea Winter is my favourite! Her choc mint slice is the best. I like baking slices best.
What is your treat style?
Alone time with food and drink.
