The latest Good Bitches -

A partnership between New Zealand’s most awarded butter and a charity spreading kindness through homemade baking has 2021 starting out on a roll.

“We’re very excited to have the Westgold brand join our whānau,” Good Bitches Baking chair Justin Lester says.

“Making Aotearoa the kindest place on earth is a big mission, and one we can’t do on our own. We need the support of the community and brands like Westgold, who support our kaupapa and mahi.”

Westgold is New Zealand’s premium butter brand. Its butter is produced, processed, and prepared exclusively on the West Coast of New Zealand. Westgold has a long and proud dairying history, generations of experience and tradition, quality natural resources, and milk sourced from grass-fed cows. These all combine to create Westgold butters’ distinctive flavour, texture and colour.

Good Bitches Baking is a network of people who want to show kindness to those in their communities who are having a tough time. Our volunteers do this by baking delicious treats and delivering them to organisations working on the frontlines in their communities.

“Our volunteers do an incredible job of donating their time, baking goodies full of aroha and delivering them to charities working with those doing it tough,” Mr Lester says.

Support such as this partnership allows Good Bitches Baking to:

  • Provide food-safe boxes for volunteers to deliver their baking in;

  • Provide flyers for volunteers to list ingredients, so recipients can make informed decisions about what they consume;

  • Provide support and training for volunteers who manage our chapters and their operations; and

  • Support Good Bitches Baking programmes such as Prison Bake.

“These elements of our operations play a tangible part in making Aotearoa the kindest place on earth, and our partnership with Westgold means we know we can keep spreading kindness across the country in 2021 with the same determination and innovation we’ve become known for,” Mr Lester says.

The agreement was signed in January and will run through to December 2021. The agreement includes a financial contribution towards Good Bitches Baking as well as opportunities for Westgold staff to contribute home baking during National Volunteer Week.

Westgold’s General Manager Sales and Marketing, Hamish Yates says the partnership reflects their own commitment to nurture people and their communities with a naturally crafted butter.

“Good Bitches Baking is a great fit for Westgold. We are committed to spreading joy through cooking and baking, and Good Bitches Baking brings us closer to those who bake for kindness, giving us an outreach to the community and allowing us to share with those who need it,” Mr Yates says.

“We’re excited about what this partnership presents – including encouraging our staff to get involved by baking for others, and allowing us to build relationships with volunteer bakers around the country through our sponsorship and recipe collaborations.

“It’s an extension of the way we operate as an organisation – sharing our products with those around us and inspiring people to get involved, all with the goal to make a difference,” Mr Yates says.
