Good Bitches Baking is all about spreading a bit of kindness in our community by giving a moment of sweetness to people going through a tough time.

Anyone can be a Good Bitch – it’s a very admiring and gender-inclusive term. Good Bitches are people who want to help and like to just get stuff done. You don’t have to be a master baker, because it’s your kindness that matters the most.

As an aside, we know that life is very expensive these days and sometimes the idea of something extra in the budget is a barrier to being part of something. If this is you, please do have a look at our Cup of Sugar fund.

So what's involved?

You’ll set up your preferences in our system for how often and which days of the week you are available to bake or do deliveries, (or both depending on your chapter) and this gets matched up with what our recipients need. We generally expect all our GBs to be available for at least one spot on the roster each month. You can update this as often as you like, including if you’re going away or want to take a break for a while.

If you’re a baker, we’ll provide a cake box to put your baking into and ingredients flyers so you can list what's in your treats and add a personal note so recipients know the baking is from a real person (and to make sure we don’t accidentally cause an allergic reaction).

If you’re doing deliveries, usually you’ll pick up from several bakers and drop off to two locations - again, this varies across chapters.

When do we bake? And what...? And how much..?

This will depend on your chapter - some have set days for baking, others have bakes available throughout the week. It’s all based on what our recipient organisations need in each area.

All baking is good baking – you decide what to bake and you don't need to be a patisserie chef or have a big budget. The only common ingredient is care for the people you're baking for and all our Good Bitches always put lots of this into everything they're baking.

Just make one batch of baking for each box. A batch is a cake, or a slice, or a batch of scones or cupcakes – you don’t have to fill the box to bursting. Our recipients tell us how many boxes they need for the people they work with so if you do heaps extra, it may get wasted.

When you click the registration button below, it will take you through a sign up process, and if it all feels comfy for you, the next step is our induction which takes about 25 minutes.

Who is the baking for?

We deliver baking to organisations that work with or support groups of people who are having a tough time. Our recipients include boarding houses, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, food banks, hospital wards, hospices, refuges, mental health support services, and many more.

We don’t have a fixed interpretation of ‘tough time’ and we definitely don’t judge why anyone is in whatever situation they’re in.

We don’t provide baking for individuals or families directly, or for fundraisers or community events.

What's the process?

We think it's really important to make sure our volunteers know what's expected, how to use our system, and who to ask for help. We're a really big organisation, so we've set things up so everything is consistent and straightforward for everyone.

Once you've finished that bit, you'll be able to log in to our rostering system which is where you set your availability (when and how often you like to bake/drive) and then, tick, you're done!
